Internationally acclaimed singer and actress ANNA BERGMAN is delighted to make her Arts Club of Washington debut. With her brilliant pianist HOWARD BREITBART, Anna celebrates our American musical heritage with songs by Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, Scott Joplin, Richard Rodgers, The Gershwins and others from beloved Broadway and Hollywood musicals such as WEST SIDE STORY, THE MUSIC MAN, SOUTH PACIFIC, INTO THE WOODS, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, MY FAIR LADY, THE WIZARD OF OZ and more.
Anna Bergman is a vocalist whose voice, in the words of The Wall Street Journal, "thrills you with the sheer aural sensation." The Washington Post has described her as "a vocal citizen of the world who triumphs in everything from Broadway tunes to opera arias and the sultry innuendoes of a cabaret chanteuse." An internationally acclaimed crossover artist, Anna performs across an extraordinarily wide range of genres and venues — from concert halls and opera houses to cabarets and television — and brings that same versatility and star power to her performances at senior communities throughout the DMV.
Raised abroad as the daughter of an American diplomat, Anna grew up immersed in multiple languages and musical cultures, giving her the rare ability to sing everything from popular standards to opera with equal authenticity and artistry. That rich background is on full display in every performance she brings to retirement and senior living communities, where her programs draw on the beloved songs, shows, and styles that have meant the most to audiences over a lifetime.
Anna's career highlights are nothing short of remarkable. She has performed as a soloist at the White House and for HM Queen Elizabeth's birthday celebration, appeared at Lincoln Center's American Songbook series alongside Barbara Cook and Billy Porter, and taken the stage at Carnegie Hall. She has headlined with symphony orchestras, performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Strathmore, Caramoor, and major festivals including Aspen, the Hamptons, and the Chicago Humanities and International Festival. Her theatre credits span leading roles at Arena Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre, The Studio Theatre, and Ford's Theatre, among many others.
A graduate and fellow of Vassar College and the Aspen Music School, Anna has also served as guest faculty at Levine Music School in Washington, D.C. She has been featured on numerous PBS specials, including A Salon with Anna Bergman, produced by Maryland Public Television.
