OPEN TO MEMBERS & GUESTS
$50 includes tour and lunch
Arts Club members are invited by the Italian Embassy and the Cultural Committee of the Arts Club for a tour of the Embassy, followed by lunch.
The Italian Embassy was designed by Piero Sartogo and inaugurated in 2000. It sits on a wooded lot facing Massachusetts Ave and adjacent to Rock Creek Park. The bisected building with an open axis faces the Washington Monument, which is visible in the distance. It serves as Italy's largest bilateral embassy in the world and was inspired by Tuscan architecture.
The building's exterior is pink stone, specifically cut and beveled in Italy. It is nicknamed "Palazzo su Potomac" - Palace on the Potomac.
The interior is uniquely Italian, blending artisanal craftsmanship with modern innovation and meticulous attention to detail. Marble and leather highlight the Italian tradition without compromising functionality.
