Barbara Stanwyck plays Thelma Jordan, a woman who seduces the married assistant district attorney and pulls him into a web of deceit and murder.
One reviewer wrote, "It is a well-crafted movie with all the elements of a good film noir. It has crime, sex, deception, corruption, and great cinematography throughout; what a perfect noir!"
