About the Artists:
The Bird Watchers Oboe Trio seeks to showcase the unique potency, humor, and beauty of the all too often overlooked oboe trio configuration (two oboes and English Horn). Equally at home performing Beethoven or Stravinsky as living composers like James MacMillan and Viet Cuong, the Bird Watchers Trio understands their instrumentation as not only unique but also as stylistically flexible and adaptable. The members of the trio met and became fast friends in graduate school at the University of Maryland. They have each gone on to develop diverse careers freelancing around the DMV, having performed with ensembles like the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, Washington National Opera Orchestra and the Great Falls Philharmonic. When they are not performing around the DMV as a trio, you can find the Bird Watchers Trio sharing a drink, making reeds together, going on a run together, or frustrating each other during board game night.
