Edward (Ed) Gero has been acting since 1977, appearing at theaters across the country from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Florida, to Washington, D.C. Known for his work with Shakespeare, Gero has also performed in motion pictures, television, and narrated for Discovery Channel.
A 16-time nominee of the prestigious Helen Hayes Award, a nominee of the Joseph Jefferson Award, recipient of the OSS Congressional Gold Medal, and recipient of The English Speaking Union Award for Excellence in the Spoken Word, Gero is perhaps best known to Washington-area audiences for his star turns as Justice Antonin Scalia in The Orginialist at Arena Stage and as Richard Nixon in Nixon's Nixon at Roundhouse Theatre.
Three of Gero's four Helen Hayes Awards are from his performances at the Shakespeare Theatre Company where he has played over 70 Shakespearean roles including his Hayes Award-winning performances in Henry IV, Richard II, and Macbeth.
