On May 15 the Cheuse Center at George Mason University presents a reading by Sam Ashworth from his book The Death and Life of August Sweeney and Carol Mitchell reading from her book What Start Bad A'Mornin'. The Death and Life of August Sweeney describes the relationship between a star chef and the doctor who performs his autopsy, coming to understand him as she removes and scrutinizes each organ. What Start Bad A'Mornin' is a novel about a woman who has come to the United States from Jamaica but can barely remember her early years until she meets a stranger who causes her to confront her repressed memories. Both books were created by writers who received Cheuse Center travel fellowships, and other Cheuse fellows will be present to discuss the books and describe their own experiences and work. A book signing and reception will follow the reading and discussion

Book signing to follow.
