present an in-person educational session

Researching our Historic Home

Members interested in researching and documenting the pedigree of our historic clubhouse are invited to join Arts Club Historian Martin Murray and Archivist Tom Macia at the Arts Club in a Library of Congress live broadcast to learn more about how to research and document the three National Register-listed properties that make up The Arts Club of Washington campus.

We will explore ways to research the history of the houses as well as related local buildings of significance to our organization. The techniques discussed will be applicable to our own homes and other structures of historic interest. A wide variety of records and primary sources—from deeds to directories, manuscripts to maps, and photographs to floor plans—as well as secondary sources that pull together context, will help us reconstruct the buildings' past.

Following the webinar, Martin and Tom will share with on-site attendees some of the information already known about 2017 I Street. If you can't join the on-site discussion but would like to watch the Library of Congress webinar from home, register here

Free with RSVP.
