About the artists:

Erica Spear is a flutist based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She is currently a candidate in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Recent credits include performances with Annapolis Opera, Maryland Opera Studio, and Great Falls Philharmonic, of which she is a founding member. She has been a prizewinner or finalist in numerous concerts to include the UMD Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Raleigh Area Flute Association Young Artist Competition, Rosen-Schaffel Competition for Young and Emerging Artists, and the Appalachian Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition.  Erica holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland at College Park and completed her undergraduate studies at Appalachian State University.. She completed additional studies at the institute for the international education of students (I.E.S. Abroad) in Vienna, Austria. She has performed in numerous masterclasses for flutists such as Josephine Olech, Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington, Christina Jennings, Göran Marcusson, and Lorna McGhee. Erica is currently a student of Dr. Sarah Frisof. Her primary teachers include Dr. Nancy Schneeloch-Bingham, and Susan Fritts; she has completed additional studies with Aaron Goldman, Dr. Brooks de Wetter-Smith, Dr. Forough Karimi Djafar-Zadeh,  and Dr. Ulrike Anton.

Cellist Wesley Hornpetrie enjoys diving into chamber music and interarts collaboration as a performer and improviser. She is most energized developing works with friends who feel the same urgency that concerts should infuse feelings of place, community, and belonging for all folks present. A native of Oklahoma City, cellist Wesley Hornpetrie now enjoys performing, collaborating, and teaching around the Washington D.C. region. She is mostly active as a member of Virago, a mixed quartet that melds free improvisation and contemporary chamber music into a contagious headspace of out-of-the box expression. She was the inaugural cellist for Candlelight Concert Series, performing over 100 pop and classical programs in historic locations around Detroit during the 20-21 season. Additionally she is the cellist of the Kennedy String Quartet in D.C. She also plays in her chamber ensemble, Girlnoise and her new music cello quartet, Hole in the Floor. As an arts administrator, she is the founder and executive director of Michigan-based music festival, Third Place [MusicFest]. As a performer, Wesley has most recently collaborated with composers including Bryce Dessner, Annika Socolofsky, Tanner Porter, among others, and ensembles including Roomful of Teeth, JACK Quartet, and the Grand Rapids Ballet. She has been coached in chamber settings by yMusic, Harlem quartet, and International Contemporary Ensemble. She is pursuing a DMA at the University of Maryland, studying with Dr. Eric Kutz, and has played in masterclasses For Lynn Harrell and Alisa Weilerstein.


Uzbekistani pianist Guzal Isametdinova is pursuing a DMA in Collaborative Piano from the University of Maryland. She is the first prize winner of the Pro Romania (Bucharest) International Piano Competition; 2nd prize recipient of the International French Rubinstein Competition, and 3rd prize recipient of both the Russian Musica Classic Festival and Uzbekistan Sanat Gunchalari piano competitions. She holds her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan where she twice won the chamber music competition and was featured with the orchestra in Mozart’s Piano Concerto in d minor, K.466. She also holds a Professional Performance Certificate from the Lynn University Conservatory of Music. Guzal has performed in masterclasses for Leon Fleisher, Irena Gulzarova, Jean Pierre Collot, Emanuele Torquati, Juris Kalnciems, Daniel Grimwood, Allison Gagnon, and Margaret McDonald. Her previous teachers include Honored Teacher of Uzbekistan Alla Kim, Ofeliya Yusupova and Anna Gringof.
