About the artist:

Leili Asanbekova is a professional classical pianist. Born in Kyrgyzstan in an artistic family, Leili began studying music at the age of 6. During her childhood, she performed in many concerts, government events and festivals. She also won several local and international competitions and worked with well-known conductors, such as Marek Moś, Vladimir Spivakov and Yuri Simonov.

In 2010, Leili was accepted to the 9th grade of Central Music School of Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where she graduated from in 2013. After that, she studied in Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory for 3 years, and then, decided to drop the studies there and try herself somewhere else. Leili's big dream at that moment was to study in the United States. Her video recordings were successfully admitted to the Curtis Institute of Music, however, the live audition didn't go that well.

Then, Leili continued her studies in France, in the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Lyon. She loved the country, the people and the amount of art there. Still, she didn't feel like she's in the right place, so she continued her attempt to study in the US. In 2020 Leili's dream came true, and she was admitted to the University of Maryland, School of Music. Because of COVID-19, she made a deferral and, finally, in 2021 she started her Master's degree in Solo Piano performance in the studio of Larissa Dedova. During her studies, Leili was working on-campus as a collaborative pianist. She successfully graduated in Spring 2023 and is going to continue her studies, now as a DMA student at the University of Maryland.

Leili's solo, as well as collaborative repertoire includes works from Bach to contemporary. As a soloist, she performed 14 concertos of different era composers with the orchestra. While studying in UMD, Leili participated in the National Music Festival in Chestertown and has performed in Gildenhorn Recital Hall, Dekelboum Hall of the Clarice Performing Arts Center and National Gallery of Art.

Lunch is available for members after the concert
