Bohemian composers Antonin Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana both showcased their national heritage in a charming and passionate idiom; blending Czech folk influences with the intensity of the Germanic classical tradition, all commingled with a dramatic Slavic flair. WAE is thrilled to welcome back Siwoo Kim, an internationally acclaimed violinist and chamber musician, for this special program, as well as Loewi Lin, cellist from the National Symphony Orchestra, and Christopher Schmitt, pianist and co-founder of the Washington Arts Ensemble.
