ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY
Giovanni Bertolazzi won the 2nd Prize at the “Franz Liszt” International Piano Competition in Budapest (2021), along with as well as five other special awards.
Born in Verona in 1998, Giovanni earned his Bachelor's Degree from “B. Marcello” Conservatory of Music in Venice and then decided to continue his piano studies with Epifanio Comis at “V. Bellini” State Institute of Music in Catania, where he obtained his Master's Degree in Piano Performance and in Chamber Music with top honours.
During his studies, he also attended several piano masterclasses held by distinguished pianists and pedagogues such as Lily Dorfman, Joaquín Achúcarro, Matti Raekallio, Boris Berezovsky, Stephen Kovacevich and Jean-Efflam Bavouzet.
He won more than 40 prizes in international piano competitions, including the 1st Prize at the “Siegfried Weishaupt” Piano Competition in Ochsenhausen (2017), the 1st Prize at the “Sigismund Thalberg” International Piano Competition in Naples (2018) and the 4th Prize at the “Ferruccio Busoni” International Piano Competition in Bolzano (2019).
In June 2019 he received the “Alkan Award for Piano Virtuosity” in Milano.
He has been awarded the “Tabor Foundation Award” in July 2022, received from Verbier Festival Academy during the Verbier Festival (Switzerland).
Giovanni is artistically supported by Cultural Association “Musica con le Ali” and "keyboard Charitable Trust".
Giovanni has performed at major venues including Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Palazzo Pitti in Florence, Teatro Politeama Garibaldi in Palermo, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Sala Verdi in Milan Conservatory, Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome, “Franz Liszt” Academy of Music in Budapest, Liszt Ferenc Memorial Museum in Budapest, Landesmusikakademie in Ochsenhausen, Kadrioru Kunstimuuseum in Tallinn, Steinway Hall and National Liberal Club in London, Eglise de Verbier.
Highlights of his career include appearances with the Hungarian Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro la Fenice, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana and Orchestra del Teatro Bellini. He officially performed on the World longest Concert-Grand Piano at his first public presentation, the BORGATO GRAND-PRIX 333 (3,33 metres long).He has recorded a CD entirely dedicated to Franz Liszt, released in 2022 and published by BORGATO COLLECTION. The album has been recorded on a piano BORGATO GRAND-PRIX 333 and has been awarded the “Supersonic Pizzicato Award” by Pizzicato Magazine (Luxembourg), the 5 Stars from Rivista MUSICA (Italy) and has been nominated for the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) 2023. A new recording has been released in 2023: he has just recorded a Liszt Double Album, published by BORGATO COLLECTION.
