Popular music is forever changed by the impact of composer, arranger, and conductor Burt Bacharach and his songwriting partner and lyricist Hal David. “Magic Moments” is The Steve Washington Quartet’s intimate performance salute to Bacharach-David with reflections on the history behind the songs and the qualities that set their music apart. While Bacharach-David’s original major recordings feature a full orchestra and Bacharach’s inventive arrangements and exacting direction, the quality of the writing allows the music to shine through even with the intimacy of jazz trio accompaniment. The performance will feature favorites like Perry Como’s “Magic Moments,” Dusty Springfield’s “The Look of Love,” Dionne Warwick’s “I Say A Little Prayer” and “Alfie,” Jerry Butler’s “Make It Easy On Yourself” and more, as well as a few less-traveled “turntable hits” that each feature that signature Bacharach-David style and quality. Join us in celebration of Burt Bacharach & Hal David, one of the world’s most inventive and popular songwriting teams.
