Bio:

IGNIS is the University of Maryland’s current fellowship woodwind quintet, consisting of master’s and doctoral students at the University of Maryland School of Music. Whether it's commissioning works from emerging composers, amplifying the voices of traditionally marginalized composers, or finding new meaning in staples of the wind quintet repertoire, IGNIS aims to provide audiences with novel, challenging and exhilarating new experiences. IGNIS is also dedicated to engaging with the University of Maryland and DMV communities through pop-up performance and educational outreach. IGNIS has competed at the national level, earning first prize in the Emerging Artists division of NOLA Chamberfest’s 2023 Online Competition and advancing to the semifinals of the 2023 Coltman Chamber Music Competition. Members of IGNIS hold degrees from New England Conservatory, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, University of Maryland, the Juilliard School and University of Michigan.
