Please join us for a book celebration for My Dear Comrades, with a reading by author Sunu P. Chandy and discussion with poet Gowri Koneswaran.
In this poetry collection, Chandy includes stories about her experiences as a woman, civil rights attorney, parent, partner, daugher of South Asian immigrants, and member of the LGBTQ community. Rajiv Mohabir has said of Chandy's poetry, "My Dear Comrades is a map into the heart's country."
Sunu P. Chandy (she/her) is a social justice activist through her work as a poet and a civil rights attorney. Sunu’s collection of poems, My Dear Comrades, was selected for the 2021 Terry J. Cox Prize, and published by Regal House in Spring 2023.
Gowri Koneswaran is a queer Eelam Tamil writer, performing artist, teacher, and lawyer. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Asian American Studies, Environmental Health Perspectives, Adi Magazines, Lantern Review, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, Split This Rock's The Quarry, and The Margins.
