Welcome back to another Washington Arts Ensemble performance! Together we’ll enjoy pieces with musical references to otherworldly spirits, superstition and ritual, and even elements of death and the macabre. Pianist and cofounder Christopher Schmitt will perform devilish works for piano solo, including Liszt's Mephisto Waltz and Chopin's Funeral March Sonata, and will be joined by Violinist Katie Hyun of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center performing Wieniawski's Faust Fantasy and Saint-Saens' Dance Macabre, and Chasson's Poeme, based on a chilling short story by Ivan Turgenev.

Co-Founded by Juilliard classmates and pianists, the Washington Arts Ensemble is a classical music collective dedicated to bringing you an unforgettable chamber music concert experience. In addition to offering classical music programs with musicians of the highest level, we emphasize a connection and fellowship with our audience throughout the concert experience. As a non-profit arts organization, we are committed to fostering a connection with our community by offering diverse and educational programming.
