To honor the life and legacy of President Abraham Lincoln, who died 156 years ago on April 15th, 1865, the History Committee of the Arts Club of Washington announces a virtual program:
Lincoln's Last Breath

LINCOLN’S LAST BREATH is the story of the Civil War friendship of Mary Lincoln and Elizabeth L. C. Dixon, the woman seated next to Mary Lincoln in "Lincoln's Final Hours" deathbed paintings, who comforted Mary throughout the night at the Petersen House and witnessed Lincoln’s death. Caroline Van Deusen is Elizabeth L. C. Dixon's great-great granddaughter and first to publicly share family relics, letters, and keepsakes that retrace the lives of the Lincolns during the Civil War, from their first days in Washington until their last.
