The Nutcracker is a tradition that sets the tone for every holiday season. Ballet companies all over the world present their versions of the story. Child and adult audiences alike love it as it develops between the worlds of ordinary and magical and connects through the world of toys, sweets and children’s imagination.
Join ballerina and classical ballet historian, Irina Wunder, in exploring this timeless tale of youthful dream, romantic love and spellbinding fantasy from the historical as well as modern perspectives. Through commentary and film, Ms. Wunder will guide participants through the Bolshoi Ballet's version of the Nutcracker choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich in 1966. The Bolshoi’s Nutcracker is still the only production that is so deeply rooted in the concepts of German Romanticism, mysticism and eternal love. IRINA WUNDER
