OPEN TO MEMBERS - FREE
The Literature Committee invites you to join us for the next installment in the short story reading-and-discussion series to be held Thursday, November 19, at 1:00 p.m.--this time, it will be "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allan Poe, a classic of the Gothic genre and one of the best-known short stories of all time. You remember "the vulture eye"?
Participants will take turns reading the story aloud, in round-robin fashion, and then discuss it afterward. Literature Committee member and former librarian Bill Turner will facilitate.
Joining us will be special guest Mark Canada, Professor of English and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Indiana University Kokomo--and a Poe expert and author of the new Audible Original Edgar Allan Poe: Master of Horror (Audible, 2020). Mark will help us to unpack the story and see how and why it works and affects us as it does.
An invitation to join the event on Zoom will be sent to participants November 17.
Please join us! RSVP online today!
