Parisian-born American pianist Dan Tepfer is First Prize winner of Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition, East Coast Jazz Festival Competition, and the American Pianists Association. Awarded Best New Artist in JazzTimes and Rising Star in DownBeat, he garnered the Charles Ives Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a MacDowell Fellowship, and a creative grant from the French Foundation BNP-Paribas.
Dan has premiered his works at Chicago’s Ravinia Festival and received commissions from the Prague Castle Guard Orchestra. He has collaborated with a host of prominent jazz artists, most notably the late Lee Konitz. Tepfer earned global acclaim for his Goldberg Variations/Variations and his Natural Machines explores the intersection between science and art, digital algorithms and the rhythms of the heart.
