$20 per person - cocktail & program only

Domenico Scarlatti, Sonata in B-flat Major, Longo No. 396

Federico Mompou, Musica Callada (selections from Books 1 and 2)

Frederic Chopin, Ballade in f minor, Op. 52

Haskell Small will play one of the over 500 short sonatas written by Scarlatti for keyboard, a sprightly little gem full of instrumental vivacity, followed by selections from the Spanish composer Federico Mompou's masterpiece, Musica Callada (the Voice of Silence)- think of this as a journey into the soul, and finishing with the greatest of the 4 Ballades of Chopin, a work noted for it's haunting melodies, unusual harmonic tone and blistering virtuosic demands.
