THE STORY OF YOUNG CASANOVA (The Awakening of Giacometto)

The distinguished Venetian scholar and poet Dr. Franco Ferrari Delfino will read in both English and Venetian from his new book length poem, Il Risveglio di Giacomino, The Awakening of Giacometto. This fascinating new volume explores the life of the young Casanova in Venice. The book was published earlier this year in Italy by La Toletta Press. The text, in Venetian, Italian, French, German, and English, is accompanied by 43 charming illustrations from watercolors by Giancarlino Benedetti Corcos. Delfino will introduce the story, and extract key passages from the text detailing the writer’s artistic awakening from the age of eight to his departure from Venice at the age of eighteen. The event is open to the public, and a reception will be held at the conclusion of the reading.

Dr. Franco Ferrari Delfino was born in Venice in 1945. He was president of the jury for the Darwin Prize in Poetry from 2009-2015, and is a member and Academic Advisor to the prestigious 200 year-old Ateneo Veneto
