CLUB DINNER featuring Dana Tai Soon Burgess

Dana Tai Soon Burgess is the Smithsonian Institution's first official choreographer. He has been called "not only a Washington prize but a national dance treasure" by the Washington Post Pulitzer Prize-winning critic Sarah Kaufman. His dance company, the Dana Tai Soon Burgess Dance Company (DTSBDC), has toured around the world as a U.S. State Department cultural envoy and is the premiere modern dance company in the Washington metro region.

Tickets are on sale now for "Portraits", premiering at the Kennedy Center on June 15th and 16th, an evening of three new dances created at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery during Burgess's historic residency. The dances, I am Vertical, After 1001 Nights, and Confluence exemplify Burgess's sublime choreography which poetically delves into the emotional terrain of our shared humanity.

On May 11th, Burgess will be interviewed by DTSBDC Board President Bonnie Kogod at the Arts Club of Washington, and dancers from the company will perform excerpts of dances he's created drawn from exhibitions at the NPG.

Don't miss this unique discussion of creating movement inspired by visual art with a leading American choreographer!

Members are invited to join other members and guests to this artistic evening with a cocktail reception, artistic program and seated dinner.
