Poetry Salon Dinner: ”The Art of Disruption” with Fleda Brown

Join us for a dinner discussion of poems with author Fleda Brown, in celebration of her collection The Woods Are On Fire: New and Selected Poems. Brown is the author of seven previous collections of poems, and the winner of prizes that include the Felix Pollak Prize, a Pushcart Prize, the Philip Levine Prize, and the Great Lakes Colleges New Writer’s Award. She is professor emerita at the University of Delaware, and she was poet laureate of Delaware from 2001-07. She now lives in Traverse City, Michigan, and is on the faculty of the Rainier Writing Workshop.

"The carefully and beautifully presented record of the life of a talented and influential American poet,” former U.S. poet laureate Ted Kooser has said in praise of The Woods Are On Fire.  Brown will share poems oriented around the idea of “disruptions”—in the world around us, and in the resulting art—as well as influential poems by others. This event will be hosted by ACW Literary Chair Sandra Beasley.

$40 per person / $75 per couple, which includes a three-course meal and wine. Copies of poems will be supplied that evening. This event is for Club Members only and their guests, and seating will be capped at twelve.
