Baritone Javier Arrey, acclaimed on three continents for his versatility and stellar international performing career, has sung major roles at world-renowned opera houses including the Vienna State Opera, New York's Metropolitan Opera, and the San Francisco Opera. Arrey has worked with prestigious conductors such as Eun Sun Kim, Lorin Maazel, and Plácido Domingo, and is known for roles as Enrico, Belcore, Malatesta, and Iago.
Javier’s program at The Arts Club promises to expand further the artist’s interests and musical tastes. Music Without Borders will be a journey through various periods, cultures, languages and musical influences. The intimate setting at The Arts Club will offer the rare opportunity to take in an informal and personal musical experience shared not just to entertain, but to inspire through the universal and divine language that has no borders or barriers: music.
The gifted singer actor will share the stage with close amigos and artistic associates to trace a journey of music itself, historically crisscrossing oceans and growing all the richer for its many mutual cultural influences.
Art in general, especially music, has long been a way to express deep feelings without words. In Arrey’s experience, music elevates us and connects us with the divine essence. It has also served as an ‘exhaust valve’ throughout history for people from different cultures, fulfilling a fundamental human need for “expression” in a deeper and more beautiful way. Cabaret is often associated with specific popular music in small venues, but The music he loves to share comes from different eras and cultures—truly, music without borders.
